“Report CBT centres charging more than ₦7,700” JAMB HQ Orders

In a recent tweet, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised concerns about Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres charging candidates more than the approved registration fees. The official statement, issued on Wednesday, emphasizes that the stipulated fees are ₦7,700 for candidates opting for the mock exam and ₦6,200 for those who choose not to partake in the mock examination.

This warning from JAMB comes in response to reports from candidates who have expressed dismay over being charged amounts exceeding the approved fees at certain CBT centres. The board is keen on ensuring a fair and transparent examination process, and any deviation from the prescribed fees is viewed seriously.

JAMB, in its tweet, has strongly discouraged the practice of extortion and urged candidates to take action if they encounter such situations. The board has requested candidates to report any CBT centre that collects fees exceeding ₦7,700 for the mock exam or ₦6,200 for the regular examination. Candidates are advised to reach out to any JAMB office nearby or use the designated messaging platform.

“JAMB strictly frowns at extortion of its candidates. If you have proofs of any CBT Centre collecting more than the approved registration fees of ₦7,700.00 with mock or ₦6,200.00 without mock, report such centre to any JAMB office near you or DM the details,” stated the official communication from JAMB.

This warning serves as a reminder to both candidates and CBT centres that any attempt to exploit students financially during the registration process will not be tolerated. JAMB continues to work towards creating a conducive and fair examination environment for all candidates, and any deviations from the established guidelines will be thoroughly investigated.
