No DE Admission Without Certificate Verification, JAMB Tells Applicants

In a recent development, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern directive to candidates seeking admission through Direct Entry (DE) for the 2023 academic session. The Board declared that it will not process any Direct Entry admission without proper certificate verification.

This crucial information was disseminated through an official statement released by JAMB on its official page last Friday. The announcement outlined the necessity for applicants to promptly contact their former educational institutions to facilitate the verification of their certificates. Failure to comply with this directive may result in non-consideration for admission for the upcoming academic year.

JAMB emphasized the importance of certificate verification and cautioned that candidates from non-responsive institutions would not be considered for admissions. The Board disclosed that it had reached out to all tertiary institutions responsible for issuing certificates, and while a substantial number had positively responded, others were yet to comply.

The official statement from JAMB read, “This is to notify all A-Level candidates who applied for 2023 admissions through Direct Entry (DE) to contact their former institutions for prompt verification of their certificates.

“In order to expedite the verification process, the Board wrote to all tertiary institutions that issued the certificates, and a significant number of them responded positively, while others were lax.

“Please be advised that the Board will not process any DE admission without certificate verification, and that the admission process for the academic year will be completed soon.

“As such, the Board would not consider all affected students of non-responsive institutions for admissions for the academic year.”

Furthermore, JAMB has provided candidates with a link to a comprehensive list of non-responsive institutions to ensure transparency and enable applicants to take necessary actions promptly.

This directive from JAMB underscores the importance of ensuring the authenticity of academic credentials and maintaining a rigorous verification process in the admission procedure. It serves as a reminder to prospective students to proactively engage with their former institutions to avoid any complications in the admission process.

As the admission process for the 2023 academic year moves forward, applicants are strongly urged to adhere to these guidelines to secure a smooth and hassle-free admission experience.
