The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made some important announcements regarding the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the year 2024.

In a statement issued by the Board on Wednesday, JAMB revealed the dates for the sale and registration of the UTME application document, the MOCK-UTME, and the main UTME.

According to the statement, the UTME application document will be available for sale from 15th January to 26th February, 2024. Candidates who wish to apply for the UTME are expected to print their examination slips as from 10th April, 2024. The examination slips will contain the date, time and venue of the examination.

The statement also announced that the 2024 MOCK-UTME will take place on 7th March, 2024. The MOCK-UTME is an optional examination that allows candidates to familiarize themselves with the UTME format and test their readiness.

The statement further revealed that the main UTME will hold from 19th to 29th April, 2024. The UTME is a computer-based test that assesses the academic ability of candidates who seek admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The UTME covers four subjects, which are English Language, Mathematics, and any two other subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen course of study.

The statement advised candidates to take note of these dates and other advisories issued by the Board in relation to the administration of the examination. It also urged candidates to visit the Board’s website @www.jamb.gov.ng for any other information.

The UTME score is one of the criteria used by tertiary institutions to select candidates for admission. Candidates are required to score at least 180 out of 400 marks to be eligible for admission. However, some institutions may have higher cut-off marks depending on the competitiveness of the courses offered.
