JAMB Registrar Applauds Federal Government’s Initiative to Tackle Fake Universities and Certificates

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has expressed his appreciation for the Federal Government’s proactive steps towards investigating the prevalence of fake universities and certificates in Nigeria.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan on Friday, Prof. Oloyede commended the initiative to address the issue, emphasizing the significance of the government’s commitment to improving the education sector.

“While the current state of education in the country may not be ideal, it has been on an upward trajectory, and I believe it will continue to improve,” remarked Prof. Oloyede.

He particularly lauded the efforts of the Minister of Education, acknowledging the complexities often associated with addressing issues in the Nigerian educational system.

“I think the Honourable Minister (of education) is doing the right thing. In Nigeria, at times, when we run into one small problem, the solutions could be more disastrous. He has done the right thing by constituting a committee to look into the problem and recommend ways out. The committee will come up with facts, and we can now work on those facts,” explained the JAMB registrar.

Expressing his optimism about the ongoing improvements in the education sector, Prof. Oloyede emphasized that collective efforts from all stakeholders were crucial to making the sector even more robust. He underlined JAMB’s commitment to maintaining the quality of its operations, ensuring stability in innovative measures, and enhancing the delivery of services.

“While I believe that education is improving, everybody must do his/her part to make the sector greater. We will also ensure that our services are better delivered,” he affirmed.

The Registrar’s statements highlight the importance of a collaborative approach in addressing challenges within the education system, and he remains confident that the concerted efforts of the government, educational institutions, and stakeholders will contribute to the ongoing positive transformation in Nigeria’s education sector.
