JAMB Commences Sale of 2024 Direct Entry Forms: Registration Opens Today

In a move aimed at facilitating seamless tertiary education admissions, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially started the sale of direct entry forms across the nation and in selected foreign centers. The registration process, as announced by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, is set to begin on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, and will run until Thursday, March 28, 2024.

The sale of direct entry forms is not exclusive to domestic candidates, as foreign candidates interested in pursuing higher education in Nigeria through the direct entry mode are also encouraged to participate.

One of the key highlights of the announcement is the board’s stern warning that it will not process applications from awarding institutions that have been uncooperative in verifying A’level certificates presented by candidates during the 2023 admission process.

“Candidates who are not awaiting results must have uploaded their A’ level qualifications, O level results, and DE registration template at the point of registration as no DE candidate would be processed for admission until such claimed results are uploaded and verified by the awarding institutions on the Board’s Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) mail platform,” the statement read.

The directive is clear: Direct Entry candidates awaiting A’level results of IJMB/JUPEB/NABTEB must upload their admission letter and registration template during registration. Additionally, applicants with Cambridge certificates from the pre-2018 examination year are advised to visit Cambridge directly for verification.

The verification process, as outlined by the Board, may take up to 28 days, after which the results will be forwarded to the board. The verification status will be reflected on the e-Facility profile of the Direct Entry candidate. However, it’s crucial to note that a statement of results, in lieu of a certificate, is accepted for registration only within three years of the date of the award.

In a gesture to accommodate flexibility, the Board has provided an opportunity for candidates to upgrade from UTME to Direct Entry. This provision is specifically for candidates whose DE results were not released at the point of UTME registration and had indicated they were awaiting A’level results.

JAMB emphasized its commitment to ensuring a level playing field for all candidates, irrespective of their status. As the registration process kicks off, prospective students are encouraged to adhere strictly to the stipulated guidelines to facilitate a smooth and hassle-free application process.
