Former Legislator Rambi Ayala Empowers 400 Less Privileged Students with Free JAMB Forms in Gombe State

In a commendable initiative aimed at alleviating the educational challenges faced by less privileged students in Gombe State, former State legislator and current chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP), Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, has partnered with the Rahab Azi Inspire Initiative to provide 400 free Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to aspiring students in Billiri and Balanga Local Government Areas.

The collaboration, which aims to support students aspiring to pursue tertiary education, was announced during a special enrollment event organized by Ayala and Rahab Azi Inspire Initiative. The beneficiaries, carefully selected from the less privileged strata of society, expressed their gratitude for the timely intervention.

Ayala, known for his commitment to mentoring, social influence, and philanthropy, highlighted the economic challenges faced by many families in the country, emphasizing that the initiative was a response to the high cost of living hindering the educational aspirations of deserving students.

“We are giving free JAMB forms to less privileged children who could not afford to buy them, and this is in collaboration with Rahab Azi Inspire Initiative, an Abuja-based NGO,” Ayala stated. “We will also monitor and ensure they get admission. We’re desirous of giving them fully funded scholarships. This is just the beginning; we hope to have more numbers by next year.”

Reflecting on his own journey from poverty to a Ph.D. level, Ayala encouraged young people to overcome economic challenges and pursue education as a means to contribute positively to society, ultimately reducing social vices.

Rahab Azi, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Rahab Azi Inspire Initiative, disclosed that a majority of the recipients were girls, with a ratio of 60 to 40% in their favor. The event also featured a paper presentation by Dr. Mohammed Bello, from the History Department at Gombe State University, who spoke on the topic, “Educational Development in Gombe South: Problems and Prospects.”

Expressing their joy, some of the beneficiaries, including 19-year-old Debo Kabiru from Balanga and 18-year-old Kaladi Moses from Billiri, who excelled in their secondary school examinations, thanked Rambi Ayala for providing them with the opportunity to pursue higher education. Both highlighted that their parents could not afford the costs associated with JAMB forms, ranging between N6,500 and N7,000.

As Ayala and Rahab Azi Inspire Initiative extend a lifeline to these aspiring students, the initiative serves as a beacon of hope for many, promising a brighter future through education despite the challenges posed by the current economic climate.
