“Consider Nursing Over Pharmacy for Japa Plans,” Advises Pharmacist Ahead of UTME 2024 Registration

“Consider Nursing Over Pharmacy for Japa Plans,” Advises Pharmacist Ahead of UTME 2024 Registration

City, Date – As prospective candidates gear up for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), a piece of advice from pharmacist and cybersecurity enthusiast John Alade has stirred conversations on social media. Alade recommends that those with plans to relocate and work abroad as healthcare workers should opt for nursing over pharmacy.

The advice comes in light of the recent announcement by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) regarding the commencement of registration for the 2024 UTME, set to begin on Monday, January 15.

Alade took to social media, particularly X, to share his perspective. “If ‘japa’ is in your plans as a prospective healthcare worker, go for nursing instead of pharmacy,” he posted, initiating discussions among prospective candidates.

In subsequent tweets, Alade expanded on his recommendation, highlighting the challenges and expenses associated with pharmacists’ relocation pathways compared to other health workers.

The pharmacist’s advice has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many expressing agreement and gratitude for the insight. Social media users are engaging in conversations about the implications of the choice between nursing and pharmacy for those considering a future abroad.

Among the reactions, Rahman (@afolabirasman) expressed hindsight regret, stating, “I wish I knew these things earlier and didn’t give up on going for nursing. Now if they give you a course you don’t like, stay at home, learn a skill, and attend JAMB tutorials again—you’ll be glad you did.”

SochiUzoma (@SochiUzoma) endorsed Alade’s advice, emphasizing the ease of conversion for nursing, radiography, and medlab compared to the challenges associated with pharmacy. @dadyroc expressed regret, stating, “Wish I had this admonition when I was in SS3. Wasted years in pharmacy school and ended up with Nursing. Same Nursing I looked down on.”

Williams Ogugua Ezegrim (@EzegrimO) highlighted the significance of the advice, noting, “This is underrated, I rejected pharmacy for radiography after being informed that the quota for nurses for the session has been met. A decision I don’t regret.”

As the discussions continue to unfold on social media platforms, Alade’s advice serves as a valuable consideration for prospective candidates navigating their academic and career paths in the dynamic landscape of healthcare professions.
