“Check Back After Mock Examination” JAMB Advises Candidates on 2024 UTME Change of Subjects

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised candidates who registered for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to check back after the mock examination for any update. The mock exam is a practice test that is designed to imitate the actual UTME and give candidates a taste of what to expect. The mock exam is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 7th March 2024, and candidates who enrolled for it will be required to pay One Thousand Five Hundred Naira (₦1,500) during registration.

However, some candidates have expressed their concerns about not being able to change their UTME subjects after registration. One of them is Tobechukwu Bruno, who tweeted at JAMB’s official handle @JAMBHQ on February 27, asking for help. He said that his screen displayed “you can no longer make changes to UTME subjects” when he tried to change them. JAMB has not yet responded to his tweet or issued any official statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, the National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2023 General Certificate Examination (GCE) for external candidates. The results were announced on Thursday, February 28, 2024, by the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Godswill Obioma. Candidates who sat for the exam can check their results online by visiting the NECO results portal and following the instructions. They will need to purchase a token to access their results. A token can be shared with candidates, parents, schools, organizations, or any person who wishes to view the candidates’ results.

The NECO GCE is an examination for private candidates who did not register or sit for the internal NECO examination. It is usually conducted in November/December every year. The examination covers various subjects, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, Literature, and more.
