2024 UTME: JAMB Takes Steps to Address NIN Issues

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a directive to address challenges faced by 2024/2025 candidates in relation to their National Identification Number (NIN). Since 2021, JAMB has made the use of NIN mandatory for its registration process, citing the need to prevent multiple registrations and ensure the verification of candidates’ identities.

The registration for the 2024/2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) commenced on January 15 and is scheduled to continue until February 26. However, in recent days, some candidates have expressed concerns about disparities between the information provided by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), the agency responsible for NIN issuance, and the details recorded during the registration process.

Responding to the growing number of complaints, JAMB has revealed plans to hold a meeting with the leadership of the NIMC. In a post on their official platform on Wednesday, the educational board advised candidates experiencing NIN-related issues to send an email to [email protected], detailing their specific complaints.

“To all prospective UTME/DE candidates, here’s how to resolve NIN issues: send your National Identification Number (NIN) as a mail to [email protected],” read the statement.

The 2024 UTME is scheduled to commence on March 19 and conclude on April 29. In light of the ongoing registration processes, JAMB has urged candidates to take note of crucial factors and emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary mistakes during the registration process.

The move to integrate NIN into the UTME registration process aligns with JAMB’s commitment to enhancing the integrity of the examination system and ensuring a fair and transparent selection process for tertiary institutions across the country.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to act promptly by following the provided directive to address any NIN-related issues, ensuring a smooth registration process ahead of the upcoming examination.
