2024 UTME: JAMB Issues Strong Warning Against Multiple Registration

As the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration approaches, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to prospective candidates against engaging in multiple registrations. The board has emphasized that it will take legal action against individuals found involved in such practices.

JAMB’s Director of Test Administration, Ville Pius, conveyed this message through the latest bulletin, announcing that the registration process for the 2024 UTME is set to commence on January 15. Pius cautioned candidates, stating that any attempt to register more than once will result in disqualification and possible prosecution.

“Multiple registrations are not allowed in the 2024 UTME exercise. Candidates who register more than once would be identified, disqualified, and prosecuted,” warned Pius.

In the event of any errors during the registration process, candidates were advised to approach the board for necessary corrections rather than resorting to obtaining fresh application documents. Failure to adhere to this guideline could lead to disqualification, as the affected candidates would be deemed to have engaged in multiple registrations.

Pius urged candidates to thoroughly read and understand the registration guidelines to avoid falling afoul of the stipulated rules. Additionally, he emphasized that after completing the registration process, candidates would be required to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on compliance with ethical standards governing their applications.

To enhance security measures, candidates were cautioned against sharing their security details, including registration numbers, passwords, e-mail addresses, and e-PIN, with third parties. The director emphasized that no registration center is permitted to request or accept candidates’ passwords.

JAMB had previously announced that the deadline for the 2024 UTME registration is set for February 26. The actual examination is scheduled to take place from April 19 to 29.

As the registration period approaches, JAMB is taking proactive steps to ensure the integrity of the process and maintain a fair and transparent examination system. Prospective candidates are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the outlined guidelines to avoid any repercussions during this critical phase of their academic journey.
